Read through the PLG release event tree
The diagram below displays an event tree for a Pressurised Liquefied Gas (PLG) Loss of Containment situation. Each icon represents a potential consequence. Unlock valuable insights about these different consequences by clicking on the various icons on the event tree below. Happy exploring!
Useful insights
All instantaneous releases are always accompanied by a BLEVE Blast, which is an overpressure effect occurring regardless of ignition or confinement.
Fireball occurs only when instantaneously released pressurized liquefied gas is directly ignited.
If the flammable cloud first disperses but can ignite later, a Flash Fire might occur.
Every time flammable mass is confined, a Vapour Cloud Explosion (VCE) may occur.
Jet fire needs momentum and, therefore only results from the direct ignition of continuous releases.
Due to the two-phase nature of the release, a Pool Fire may arise from the corresponding liquid spill when direct ignition occurs.
