The model tree in EFFECTS is a hierarchical representation of all model calculations associated with a specific equipment location. Here is a breakdown of its structure and usage:

Structure of the model tree

• Equipment node

  • The top level of the tree represents the equipment, which defines the geographic positioning of scenarios.

  • Typical equipment includes tanks, vessels, or installations.

  • Use the background map to select a coordinate or define route points for the equipment.

• Model calculations

  • Each equipment node can contain multiple models.

  • Typical accident scenarios for vessels might include: a leak, full bore rupture, catastrophic (instantaneous) release, etc.

  • These scenarios can be defined using different LoC (Loss of Containment) combined models or inputs.

Caption style and model status

The caption style of each node in the model tree reflects its current status:

• ITALIC: The model has not been calculated yet.

• BLUE: The model is linked.

• RED: The model has incomplete or incorrect input.

These visual cues help users quickly identify the status of each model and ensure that all necessary inputs are correctly configured before running calculations.
