Read through the liquid release event tree
The diagram below displays an event tree for a liquid Loss of Containment situation. Each icon represents a potential consequence. Unlock valuable insights about these different consequences by clicking on the different icons on the event tree below. Happy exploring!
Useful insights
The released liquid usually spreads before it may evaporate, thus, direct ignition of the flammable liquid spill presents a potential for a Pool Fire.
If the pool does not directly ignite but evaporates and creates a cloud that can ignite later, a Flash Fire might occur.
Every time flammable mass is confined, a Vapour Cloud Explosion (VCE) may occur.
Jet fire does not only occur in gas and PLG releases. If the continuously released liquid is highly pressurised and directly ignited, there is a chance of Jet Fire.
