How to install and uninstall EFFECTS and RISKCURVES

System requirements

• EFFECTS/ RISKCURVES 12 is a 64-bit application intended for Microsoft Windows 10 or Windows 11 in a 64-bit environment and needs a modern PC with no special requirements.

• An internet connection is required for network-based licensing and usage of the tile server backgrounds.

• For more complex calculations, EFFECTS / RISKCURVES benefits from additional internal memory and a fast processor. An i5 processor (or better) and 16 GB Memory or higher are minimal recommended hardware specifications.

Installation

Installing and uninstalling the software needs sufficient administrative rights to do so. Contact your IT department for support.

Where to download the software

Note

The login details will be provided by Gexcon’s representative via email. The password is case-sensitive. To install the software, you will need full administrator rights.

• Log in to the download portal.

• Select your license type. If your dongle is red, or you will be using a cloud/network license, select ‘‘Regular version’’. This version is not compatible with the black dongle. The black dongle is only compatible with the ‘‘Legacy version’’.

• Click on the latest software version (12.3) and download the installation file.

Along with the installation files, the download portal contains a RISKCURVES demo file, which showcases the use of software.

If in the situation EFFECTS/ RISKCURVES does not recognise the protection key correctly, please contact the helpdesk.

The software comes with a full-featured set-up program. Please follow the instructions carefully and make sure the protection key is NOT inserted during installation. The default driver for the protection key that is installed is from “HASP / Sentinel”. If the same driver but in a newer version is required by another software program, the installation for EFFECTS/ RISKCURVES can be omitted.

Licenced vs Viewer version

A viewer version can be downloaded at the Gexcon webpage for both EFFECTS and RISKCURVES. This version runs without a license and does not allow modifications to project files. Its purpose is to let you view the content of project files, such as when sharing a file with a client. This version does not require licence activation.

Un-installation

Un-installation is done by using Windows Settings, choosing "Apps" and selecting EFFECTS/ RISKCURVES, "Uninstall" or by using the control panel "Programs and Features" option "Uninstall".
