How can I find out what has changed in the most recent software update?
The document titled 'Version Information' contains a comprehensive history of all software changes in RISKCURVES, with the latest version listed at the top and the oldest version at the bottom. You can conveniently access this document through the <Help> tab located in the Menu bar of RISKCURVES or by visiting our Customer Support & Downloads Centre.
Additionally, in our Customer Support & Downloads Centre, you can find model documentation arranged chronologically. Specifically, the most recent validation reports, technical notes, and background literature pertinent to new models or their enhancements are always positioned at the top, each accompanied by a date. This organisation ensures easy access to the most relevant and up-to-date information.
Will updating RISKCURVES to the latest version impact my existing work?
You might notice some changes in the models, which are aimed at enhancing their accuracy and providing a better approximation of reality with our modelling tools. Here is what you may experience:
Models Highlighted in Red: This indicates that certain input parameters have been modified or added, and currently, they are empty. You will need to provide additional input for these parameters.
Model Name Changes or Replacements: It is common during development for model names to change or for models to be replaced. We recommend reading the release notes first, as they typically explain these changes in detail. You can access the release notes through the <Help> tab in the Menu bar of RISKCURVES or on our Customer Support & Downloads Centre. Rest assured, no models are deleted without providing an alternative. If a model is replaced, the software automatically switches to a new suitable alternative. Additionally, in some cases, a model may be extended into a new one, while the old model remains included within the new version.
If I update RISKCURVES to the latest version, will I lose the user-imported settings, such as tile servers, meteorological data, chemicals, and other user settings?
No, when updating between minor versions, e.g. 12.2 to 12.3.
Yes, when updating between major versions, e.g. 11 to 12. This will erase all user settings.
Will I still be able to use my previous software version after installing the software update?
Absolutely, you can continue to use major versions like 10 or 11 without any issues. However, it is important to realise that with the current minor version, such as version 12, small updates (like 12.2 to 12.3) will overwrite each other. So, while major versions remain separate, minor updates within the same version will replace each other.
How can I access my older files using the former software versions?
f you prefer to work with a previous major version of the software, you can access and download it from the Customer Support & Downloads Centre.
Alternatively, if you wish to stay up-to-date with the latest features and improvements, you can update your files to the most recent version. For detailed instructions on upgrading your project files to the latest software version, refer to the article Upgrading to the latest software version.
What should I do if the model I previously used is not included in the new update?
Please read the release notes first, as they likely explain the changes. No models will be deleted without providing an alternative. If a model is changed, the software will automatically use a suitable alternative.
In some cases, a model may be merged into another model and no longer shown as an individual entity, or it may be completely changed into a new model. In short, if you cannot find a model, it has either evolved or been merged under a different one.
If you suspect that the model is missing, please let us know by contacting us. In the meantime, you can use the previous software version. The installation file can be accessed on the EFFECTS & RISKCURVES Downloads Centre.
Will updating Windows 10 to Windows 11 influence EFFECTS or RISKCURVES?
No. No additional action is required from the user.
